Hi Niclas,
It is Tim Schaub to whom you are referring to. He was been working on
wfs editing with versioning, pretty neat stuff. He can point you at the
latest version of his demo.
You should also check out the wealth of examples that come with
OpenLayers. In particular the following will probably give you a good
idea of how to set up an openlayers map with all the editing tools for
doing wfs editing.

Hello!
Im trying to make a web application that shows a few map layers and
makes it possible to update and add lines, points and polygons. It
should not be so advanced, maybe some snapping functionality though.
What do you think are the best solution for me, I’ve heard (and noticed)
that wfs loading is extremely slow if the data is large (at least with
open layers) what are my alternatives for making a client? Maybe do I
don’t need to load any wfs, but only load wms and then update the layers
with wfs requests, is this possible? I have heard that some person
named Tim have done a demo showing how to do this, is there a
possibility for me to se this demo?Regards Niclas Eklöw, Sweden
