[Geoserver-users] WFST & PostGIS

Hi friends

I use Apache Tomcat/6.0.35, JVM v.1.7.0_01-B08 on OS Windows7 x86. Geoserver
version is 2.1.3 (web archive). I created a simple client (OpenLayers,
GeoExt), which is capable of transaction. WFS-T thus works well, but only if
the source of my data are shapefiles. These data are in the WGS84 coordinate
system. I tried to import a shapefile into Postgre / PostGIS (v.9.1 /
v.1.5.3) database (I had to change UTF-8 to Latin1, or else import has taken
place at all and ended with an error message). I have published data from
PostGIS via Geoserver (login account is a superuser database owner). I am
able to display the data through WMS and WFS, but I can not execute the
transaction.

I tried to download uDig. uDig starts and everything looks normal, but is
unable to even connect to the WMS or the WFS. QGIS when trying to connect to
WFS freezes and crashes, so I can not tell if the problem is client side :frowning:
I only know that it is possible to edit shapefile without any problems.

If you have anyone any ideas I will be more than grateful

Regards
Tom

SOLVED!

Problem was that PostGIS shapefile loader automatically create a certain
number of conditions and the transaction violated one of them ...

Hi Tom,

check out this ticket (fixed in your GS version, but maybe related anyway)
http://jira.codehaus.org/browse/GEOS-4854

I have got many strange problems with JVM 1.7, maybe switching to 1.6 helps.

kind regards
