[Geoserver-users] Where are GeoWebCache dirs??

Hello,
I am reading and trying to configure GeoWebCache on GeoServer 1.7.2 but I cannot find any of the folders that are referenced.
Where is /gwc ? I can run http://localhost:8080/geoserver/gwc/demo (works fine) but where is the folder “/gwc”? I cannot see it under the geoserver_data_dir or any other place on my server. I need to edit web.xml but that must be in the gwc folder?
I am running Tomcat on OS X Server 10.5.

Hi Asle. GWC acts as a service, so there isn't a /gwc folder in the same way that there isn't a /wms folder.

Most of the configuration for GWC is done in the standard GeoServer web.xml, I believe.

Thanks for your reply Mike,
So the web.xml to edit is the one inside …/webapps/geoserver/ ?
I still don´t get how to have GeoWebCache fetch files from a wms server. Any good tutorial?

Hi Asle. I think you'd want the standalone version of GeoWebCache [1] then, not the version that ships with GeoServer. With the plugin, it assumes that you want to use GeoServer's WMS. With the standalone version, you can easily configure it for any WMS [2].
