-------- Messaggio Originale --------

FYI... this is the draft for the part of the INSPIRE Implementing Rules
(for a common SDI in Europe) that deals with WMS and Catalog Services
at a minimum.

http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/implementingRulesDocs_ns.cfm
(most relevant - Discovery Services 3.0, View Services 3.0,
Network Services Architecture)

The previous draft was heavy on Geo(D)RM, it will be interesting to
see what the significant changes are. The other tendentious issue has
been the question of whether to mandate SOAP interfaces as standard
for a European SDI.
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Response_to_INSPIRE_Discovery_and_View_Draft
contains the notes from the FOSS SDIC response to last year's draft.

Note that while the Metadata rules had a round of public consultation
after the first drafts went to registered organisations (including our
FOSS SDIC)
these Rules are going direct to the Commission for approval /
transliteration into a form that can be plausibly legally binding.
So they had better work for you.

Nel doc Draft_Technical_Guidance_View_Services_v1.0 [1] c'è un bel
riferimento al Osgeo:

4 INSPIRE Profile of Cache WMS (page 13)
---------------------------------------------------------------
Operating a WMS can be stressing for a MS infrastructure when MS
datasets are large and the
INSPIRE performances have to be met. A lightweight profile of WMS can
be used to lower the initial
effort to bring datasets to the network. Based on OGC's WMS 1.1.1, it
is possible to use a Tile caching
service as defined in
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/WMS_Tiling_Client_Recommendation

Sono ancora bozze, ma guardando la nuova roadmap di INSPIRE [2] sembra
proprio che siano quasi definitive: il 15 novembre verranno inviate al
Inspire commitee per la successiva adozione.
