Beh, questa mi pare grossa.

I have been notified that ESRI/OGC will not be sharing reasons for voting for the “GeoServices REST API” that has been sent to OGC voting members.

I’m disappointed that such information is being with held from public debate.

Craig,
I understand that ESRI has been emailing some OGC voting members reasons for approving the GeoServices REST API.

I think it appropriate to have an open discussion, and hear both the pros and cons for adopting the GeoServices REST API.

Could you please share your comments on a public email list so that the community has an opportunity to hear the other side of the argument.

Per completezza aggiungo l'inizio della discussione:

http://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/discuss/2013-May/011602.html (e
successive)

http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Geoservices_REST_API

essere socia GFOSS.it.
opportuno, aggiungere commenti e firmare.

Does the OGC still have any credibility as a transparent standards
organization after this?

I'm very disappointed in ESRI and OGC based on what I've heard so far.
Pretty hard to believe this is coming from the folks that first
published the Shapefile specification that made a lot of open source
GIS software practical. I guess that is what happens when there is a
lot of short term profits on the line.

How short-sighted. I hope they change their mind.

Grazie mille Anne.
Saluti.
