I have been going through some unresolved issues that I am trying to keep track of
and I would like to ask whether the below is still true?
Has anybody worked vector data sets that are larger than 2GB?
thank you,
Helena

The bigger
problem is that the vector library only supports 32-bit file offsets, so
you can't have point sets larger than 2GB. Fixing this requires much
more work I think and may even break backwards compatibility, so it
might be more of a grass7 change. I may have some more time to look at
code issues in grass in the fall instead of focusing solely on
research
issues.I think if we want a scalable v.surf.rst, we have to stick with grass54
(which is what I still run my larger tests on), which is a shame,
because I like many of the grass6 features and the code layout is much
more logical. Alternatively, I can modify my code to get the point data
directly from the ascii file like r.in.xyz does and skip the grass
vector point import altogether. Ultimately, grass should support large
vector files, but that is easier said than done.------------------
