[GRASS-dev] Announcing GRASS PSC elections 2024

Dear GRASS community,

We have GRASS GIS Project Steering Committee (PSC) elections this year!

By mid October 2024 we’ll be renewing 4 seats in the GRASS board. The seats open for election are those of: Helena Mitasova, Helmut Kudrnovsky, Martin Landa and Michael Barton.

  • Who can be nominated to PSC and who can nominate?

Everyone can nominate and be nominated for GRASS PSC, and we also encourage self-nominations.

Usually, the nomination procedure is as follows:

  1. You contact the person you want to nominate privately.

  2. If they accept the nomination, you should privately contact the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) including name, contact e-mail and shortly why the person is recommended for GRASS PSC.

  3. The CRO will then contact the recommended person asking for confirmation. The nominated person has to accept the candidacy and will be asked to write a few lines stating what they want to achieve.

  4. Following confirmation, it is the CRO’s task to officially announce the nomination.

  • Who can vote?

As discussed during the past PSC meetings, voters are recognized community members that meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • have one or more merged pull requests in any of grass, grass-addons, grass-website, grass-promo repositories,

  • participated of GRASS PSC and community events,

  • have one or more merged pull requests in qgis/QGIS related to GRASS integration,

  • have one or more merged pull requests in rsbivand/rgrass, or

  • are registered and have translated for GRASS GIS in Weblate

during the time span of the previous two PSC mandates, i.e., for 2024 elections, we are considering contributors since 2016.

Please find the list of voters names at: <GRASS PSC Elections voters list 2024>

If you believe you meet the criteria but do not find your name in the list, please contact us at: veroandreo@gmail.com

Or… Just hurry up and make a pull request before September 15th!

The GRASS CRO, Hernan De Angelis, will be contacting all of us with more details soon!

Thanks Hernan for your time and commitment!

Best,

Vero
