Dear all, I am grateful to be nominated for election to the GRASS PSC. I am a computational archaeologist, and I have worked extensively with GRASS since 2005 (GRASS 5.4!). I have developed several addons for GRASS, including addons for archaeological catchment modeling, cumulative viewshed analysis, landscape evolution and erosion modeling, and agent-based modeling of human land-use practices, and have published extensively about these same topics. I am a passionate advocate for free and open source software in general, and in the service of open scientific practices in particular.
As a GIS educator, I center my courses around GRASS and other open-source tools in service of the ideals of open science and equitable access to the tools of scientific analysis. I make video tutorials for learning GRASS, and have made available open data to accompany these tutorials.
If elected to the PSC, I will work towards the goal of expanding educational materials for learning how to use GRASS, helping to develop guidelines for open scientific practices with GRASS, advocating for GRASS as a hub for spatial data analysis pipelines, streamlining/organizing the ever-expanding set of excellent add-ons, and expanding the accessibility and efficiency of the user interface. As always, I am here also to learn and to understand the diverse needs of the GRASS community.
Many thanks for your consideration!
