I just committed a major revision of the layers management section of the wxgrass rendering engine. It should be more robust, faster, and MUCH less verbose.

I've just tried the wxgrass p.* commands: Great job !
One small issue: if you erase the map in the gui and then relaunch a p.vect or p.rast command, all the maps you displayed before are displayed again.
