Does anyone know how to do FIFOs on a NeXT? I've managed to compile
grass 4.1 on a NeXT Colorstation, running an X Windows package called
Co-Xist. But it seems the NeXT doesn't do FIFOs in the "normal" way.
In fact I am told FIFOs are "System V" rather than "BSD", but I find that
hard to understand, given GRASS is developed on SUNs, and I thought they
are pretty BSD.
Questions, then:
1. Has anyone gotten GRASS running on a NeXT? (Assuming some version
of X-Windows, or else NeXT-Step graphics drivers),
2. Does anyone know how to make FIFOs on a NeXT?
3. Has anyone compiled GRASS on a "true" BSD system? NeXT claims it
is based on pure BSD (Mach, actually) but I'm skeptical.
I've assumed GRASS runs on 386BSD or BSD386 or whatever.
Tim.
