GRASS PSC Elections 2026 - Candidate Statement - Corey White

Dear GRASS community,

Thank you for the nomination, and thanks to Alen for his kind words.

Over the past several years I have contributed to GRASS through bug fixes, new tools, documentation, mentoring GSoC students, and helping to rebrand and update the website. I work as a researcher, a lecturer teaching GRASS to students and domain experts, and the founder of OpenPlains Inc. Each of those roles shows me a different side of the project, and together they give me a useful perspective on what it needs from different parts of its community.

If elected, I would focus on three areas. Improving the path from first use to first contribution, through documentation, onboarding, and the website. Supporting the community, so that review and discussion remain welcoming and sustainable. And helping the project think deliberately about larger shifts, including the browser and AI-assisted tooling, so that GRASS, as a community of people, continues to grow into new contexts rather than being left behind by them.

I would be glad to bring that perspective to the PSC.
