[GRASS-user] how to import .shp and .dbf files???

Hi to everyone!

I´m working with grass 6.3.0 on a ibook and I´d like to import some files with .shp and .dbf format but I always get the report: "not recognised as a supported file format"
Are there some applications missing? Hope somebody can help!

thanks!!!

Nadine

Are you using v.in.ogr? If so, are you pointing the ‘OGR datasource name’ to the .shp file?

Hi Mark and António!

I´ve tried to use “v.in.ogr” but it didn´t work. The report says “the projection of the dataset ist not identical with the projection of the location”

Do I have to install GDAL first??? That´s what I found at this page: http://grass.itc.it/grass62/manuals/html62_user/v.in.ogr.html

If you are sure the projection of the shapefile matches the projection of the location, you can use the -o option to override that check.
