Hi all,
I am trying to import data from ISIS cubes into Grass.
First, I would like to configure a Mars ellipsoid into Grass. Does anybody know
hos to put Martian ellipsoid into Grass config ?
thanks,
A.

I'm trying to subset the MODIS US NDVI composites and get it into UTM in another mapset-- the metadata is not well documented, as has been noted, but are apparently in Albers Equal Area Conic projection. I read through the archives and followed Marcus' suggestions for changing projection info (spheroid and datum) and used r.in.gdal, but the data come in UTM about 19.3km north of where they should be, may be slightly off east-west, but can't tell for sure. Has anybody found a solution to working with these ddata in GRASS?

Where did you get these data?
My script only applied to original HDF files from NASA EOS Data Gateway.

can it be known to PROJ4, or defined by PROJ4 arguments? (you may need
to ask on the PROJ mailing list)

Antoine / Hamish,
If you use gdalinfo on the dataset you should get the WKT string defining
the coordinate system, including the ellipsoid. If you import using r.in.gdal
in the normal manner that creates a new study area with the coordinate system
defined from the source data, that should capture the definition properly.
Please let me know if you have problems with ISIS cubes through GDAL. I'd
like to make sure the support for them is solid.
Best regards,
