I tried various vector layer to check this problem, but it is happening
every time.
I think, the problem is about the configutration file.
My procedure was:
First set up the raster file as sampling frame, than vector as overlayed
layer.
Second set up the sampling frame as Whole map, than set up the sampling
areas as Select areas from overlayed vector layer.
Finally Save settings. This file I have choosen as configuration file
for r.li.shannon (as test with r.li.simpson too, but with the same effect) .
Could you check my technique for errors?
I need necessarily this index for my work. However r.le.pixel even
r.li.shannon seems to couldn't work with my data sets.
Thanks

Hi all,

I have make a little test on r.li.setup using an overlayed vector like
sample areas.

I set up a raster file as sampling frame, than a vector as overlayed
layer. Then I set up the sampling frame as "Whole map", and the sampling
areas as "Select areas from overlayed vector layer".
At this poin r.le.setup opens a xmon and draws the choosen raster
*without *overlayed vector polygons and asks me "Is this area ok?" and a
name to assign to it. R.li.setup makes it for seven times ever *without*
shows the overlayed vector than I can click on "Save setting".

I thinked that r.le.setup showed me the various polygons of the choosen
vector and that the problem is only on the visualization, but the
problem is that the choosen vector have *only one* polygon....

When I run r.li.shannon it says:

problem 1:
the filename above repeats the "/home/martin/.r.li/history/" part twice.

problem 2:
some variable (a map name) is being used uninitialized. presumably this
is because the config file couldn't open but the module marched on anyway.
It should include some more checks and G_fatal_error()s apparently.

I have something, but I'm afraid you will not understand it, as it is in
    Italian.
However, the behaviour of r.li <http://r.li> is rather similar to
    r.le, so you should
    not have major problems.
    All the best.

but module r.li <http://r.li> seems to be very important for my
work. Can I have some more detailed dokumentation to r.li
<http://r.li> (somethigs like for r.le)? Reference Manual for Grass
    6.3. I already have.

Hi Hamish,
coudl you specify, what does the problem 2 mean? The map, used for
r.li.shannon, in r.le.patch does work.
Ad problem 1
I dont understand, why the file name repeats "/home/martin/.r.li/history/"
twice. In path to file is this set only once

Paolo,
please, could you send me some configuration file for r.li.shannon, that
does work? (sampling areas from the overlayed vector layer)#
Thanks
Martin

problem 1:
the filename above repeats the "/home/martin/.r.li/history/" part twice.

problem 2:
some variable (a map name) is being used uninitialized. presumably this
is because the config file couldn't open but the module marched on anyway.
It should include some more checks and G_fatal_error()s apparently.

Hamish
