One note: I have tried a few WxWidgets apps, and I found them
unstable on Linux. Apparently the problem is general.
Can you be more specific? Many apps such as Audacity have been fine on Linux
for ages.
ie can you point to a specific bugs here or elsewhere?

Personally, I'm quite fond of wx. Thuban lives happily over it, and
from python, no less.
