Hi markus
I've two news for you. One is surely bad and one probably not.
1) I'm triyng to compile grass on redhat 7.0 but after installing I've the
well known message about gislock5. But I'm using glibc2.1.
Any suggetion?

Sorry, no idea for this. The .gislock5 error wasn't reported for month.
I had hoped it was gone...
Developers, any ideas for Marino?

2) downloading grass I've seen an empty folder for linuxPPC. On my Mac I've
compiled grass for it. If you guide me on archiving grass safely, I can
upload it on your server...

The linuxPPC is not fully empty
-> README "GRASS50.beta8 ppc.rpm und src.rpm are available
          from Free-GIS FTP site:
          ftp://intevation.de/"

So it is available.
But generally, to build a binary package from sources, simply run
make bindist

This will build the package for you and the install script.

Yours

Markus
