[GRASS5] strange behaviour in command line

I've been trying to type some longer commands in grass5.3 and have been
running to wrapping when I get to about 30 or 40 characters, the line
terminates and I can't move my cursor back to the beginning of the line.
This doesn't happen in other programs, just grass. I thought I might have
an older form of the cvs repos, so I updated and recompiled, but it still
happens.

I'm running FreeBSD 4.9.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Jeff.

Are you referring to the GRASS shell? That is just a normal shell
(bash, csh etc, depending upon $SHELL).

Does it happen if you start GRASS non-interactively by specifying the
complete path to the mapset directory on the command-line?
