[GRASSLIST:1945] Importing DTED 2 files (and merging)

Hi

I have DTED2 files (each 1 degree tiles) that I want to merge
together to create a large region of 7x7 tiles.
(i.e. a region consisting of 7 degrees of latitude and 7 degrees of
longitude)

How would I go about doing this?

(r.in.dted imports 1 file at a time!)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Import each tile as a separate map, then merge them with r.patch.
