[GRASSLIST:5553] RE: Assigning colours to vectors

Try d.vect.line and d.vect.area
You can assign a legend file to map category to color.

I am going to guess that the "standard colors" are the ones defined in
D_translate_color() and are lower case:

red
orange
yellow
green
blue
indigo
violet
white
black
gray
grey (same color, different spelling)
brown
magenta
aqua

Subject: [GRASSLIST:5544] Assigning colours to vectors

I've had a search through the docs & can't find the answer to this:

How do I plot vector data with colours assigned by
attribute/category ID?

There are good facilities for assigning colours to raster,
but not that I
can find for vector data?

Any help appreciated.

Yes. Note, d.vect.area and d.vect.line are not limited to those colors.
