[GRASSLIST:8140] autostart script for dm

Hello all,

Is there a startup script that is run when you select a location? or is there
some possibility of having a .dm or .dmrc file loaded automagically on
startup of the dm?

Dear list,
I have Mandrake 10.0 running on my pc box and downloaded the rpm binaries for grass 6.0.1 from gdf-hannover.

Will this version run under Mandrake 10.0?

I started following the installation order from the readme, doing manually with rpm -i -v package.rpm . The first package (proj-4) installed without trouble, but didn't know where it was installed. For the second package (gdal-1.3.0-2mdk10.1.i586.rpm) the installation aborted with errors:

Failed dependecies
libstdc++.so.6 is needed by gdal-1.3.02mdk10.1

under /usr/lib there is a libstdc++.so.5 but no libstdc++.so.6,

Any clues, directions? Do I need the Mandake 10.1 or a symbolic link from libstdc++.so.6 to libstdc++.so.5 will do.

Thanks

you can try a symbolic link, but I don't think this will work. The packages are compiled on a mandrake 10.1 and unfortunately not build for Mandake 10.0 - sorry.

Dear list,
Since nobody came to the rescue but Otto , let me tell you how i fixed using the binary distribution intended for Mandrake 10.1 in version 10.0 This is to solve the dependencies of the distribution rpms. Otto indirectly suggested to migrate to 10.1, but sometimes it's to much hassle to backup everything before migrating.

I followed the installation sequence defined in the readme of the distribution site for Mandrake
http://www.gdf-hannover.de/media.php?id=1&lg=en
then when the dependencies started to appear i went to http://rpm.pbone.net and searched for the libraries requested, download them and installed manually with root privileges with rpm -ivh package.rpm.

At the end, I got grass60 to run. I hope I don't get into furture problems for running on version 10.0.
My first surprise, besides the interface, is that it will not see my old vectors from 5.4.

Vectors must be converted from the old format to the new grass 6.0 format.

run v.convert
