Happy holidays everyone!
Quick question. I want to add a new table to a vector layer. The table already exists in postgres (already populated), and I want to add it as a new layer to vector A. Is this a job for v.db.addtable?
on the other hand, since I created the table in postgres by joining two other tables. I could actually replace the existing table 1 that the vector map is linked to. In this case, should I really looking at creating a new map with v.in.db (two of the columns/attributes in the new table are x and y coordinates)?
Thanks,
Kirk
Kirk,
GRASS layers were opaque to me until recently. Once I finally figured them
out, I actually wrote it up for the GRASS WIKI. You can find it on the
vector database page at

Michael, all,
thanks for extending the wiki page.
Please consider to also update
vector/vectorintro.html
in the GRASS 6.1-CVS to also get the built-in documentation
useful. For native speakers it's often easier to describe
things in a clear way. Additional effect is that we bundle
documentation, to not have it scattered around in many places.
Also images are supported in the GRASS manual, see
for example
http://grass.itc.it/grass61/manuals/html61_user/r.terraflow.html
Thanks
Markus
