+1, thanks for the effort @afabiani

Hi Alessio,

I see that target is for the GeoServer 3 release (not sure we’ll have a beta, mind).
In that context the proposal is fine, +1

Reasoning: I have seen many changes that I believe occurred after the Spring security 7 update, so I would think the code on 2.28.x is likely outdated by comparison, and less likely to be ready for graduation

Cheers
Andrea

Hello Andrea,
yes, the target proposal is for GeoServer 3.

The code on 2.28.x is outdated and not ready for graduation.

I am very enthusiastic, and did not see the discourse thread until today.

I had commented directly on the proposal:

Q: Does it have sufficient real-world experience to be an extension?

This module has been available for use in 2.28.x series, so there may very well be production use to report. There is also the option of marking the plugin as “pending”, which publishes the plugin alongside GeoServer 3.

Does it have much real-world use on 2.28.x that you have heard about?

If not this is a perfect example of why we make pending modules available for download alongside a release.

Hi,

I have been using this new OIDC Module for a while, and would very much see it included as an extension when Geoserver 3 ships. I use it in conjunction with Keycloak, and was using the old Keycloak plugin. The re-configuration from the old plugin to the new module went fairly easy. There are some changes that needs to be tackled, both in Geoserver and Keycloak. All in all it works very well.

Thanks!

Best regards,

Roar Brænden

Thanks very much for the input @roarbra , that’s just the feedback that we need to push it forward, @afabiani

Given the feedback from users, I’m going to repeat my initial +1 for the GSIP and moving the module to extension. Can others renew their vote so that we can move this plugin before the 3.0 final release?

Cheers
Andrea
