I am Vivek, a student from IIT Roorkee passionate about open-source development and real-world geospatial applications. I am currently learning C++ and steadily improving my skills, as it is an important part of contributing to pgRouting and other OSGeo projects.
As I prepare for GSoC 2026, I am excited to explore the codebase, understand the workflow, and start making small contributions while learning from the community. I would be grateful for any guidance on how to get started or areas where a beginner can contribute effectively.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to learning and contributing.
You will also be asked to complete an application similar to this - GSoC Ideas: 2025 · pgRouting/pgrouting Wiki · GitHub the 2026 will be slightly different but the 2025 one should give you an idea of what is expected.
I’ll start by going through the latest pgRouting workshop and reviewing the docs code from the workshop repository. I’ll check if I can spot any issues or areas that can be improved, and I will open discussions or issues when I find something meaningful.
Alongside that, I will go through the GSoC preparation page and the 2025 application format to understand the expectations for GSoC 2026. This will help me plan my learning and contributions properly.
I’ll keep sharing my progress and will start contributing wherever I can.
Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction, looking forward to getting more involved.
