GSoC 2026 submission question : Proposal submitted under OSGeo instead of NumFOCUS

Hello,

I just realized I submitted my GSoC 2026 proposal for the GRASS project under OSGeo on the GSoC portal, but the GRASS GSoC ideas page says GRASS participates under the NumFOCUS umbrella organization.

My proposal is about improving dynamic testing and targeted Tools API updates in grass.jupyter. Since the application period has already closed, I wanted to ask whether GRASS mentors/admins can still see the proposal, or whether there is anything I should do from my side now.

Sorry for the confusion, and thank you for any guidance.

That’s understandable given the change from last year and you were not the only one confused about it, but we can’t consider those proposals.

Thank you for getting back to me Anna , I really appreciate it.

I won’t pretend it isn’t disappointing, but I do understand. I should have verified the umbrella org more carefully before submitting.

That said, since you mentioned others ran into the same confusion would it be possible for you or someone from the GRASS/NumFOCUS side to flag this to Google GSoC support? Or would you suggest I reach out to them directly? I’m not sure if there’s any precedent for a transfer or exception in a case like this, but I’d rather try than not.

Either way, thank you for your time and for being understanding about it.
