GSoC 2026 : Week-2 Report (June 9 - June 14)

Hello everyone,

This is my report for Week 2 of the GSoC coding period, in which I enlist the tasks I fulfilled during the week.

Any feedback, comments, and suggestions are welcome.

Weekly Report (June 9th - June 15th)

I performed the following tasks during this week:

  • Continued discussions with mentors regarding the design and user experience of the Time Travel Queries feature.

  • Presented updated mockups and gathered feedback on the proposed workflows for both as_of and from_to functionalities.

  • Iterated on the designs based on mentor suggestions and project requirements.

  • Refined the as_of mockup through multiple review cycles and finalized the overall user workflow and interface design.

  • Discussed implementation considerations for integrating as_of into the existing istSOS interface while maintaining consistency with the current user experience.

  • Conducted further research on temporal data exploration interfaces and historical data navigation systems to evaluate different approaches for the from_to functionality.

  • Gained a clearer understanding of the expected behavior and scope of the from_to feature through mentor discussions.

  • Identified key differences between the current proposal and the envisioned workflow discussed with mentors.

  • Evaluated alternative UI approaches for presenting complete historical information over a selected time interval.

  • Documented feedback and design considerations that will guide the next round of mockup iterations.

Details can be found in:

What do I plan to do next week?

  • Begin implementing the finalized as_of design and progressively translate the approved mockup into the actual user interface.

  • Familiarize myself with the relevant frontend components and code paths required for the implementation.

  • Continue discussions with mentors regarding the from_to functionality and its expected user workflow.

  • Perform additional research on interfaces that provide complete historical exploration and timeline-based navigation.

  • Create new mockup iterations for from_to based on the latest mentor feedback.

  • Explore approaches for presenting a dedicated history view, as opposed to an overview-style interface, to better align with the intended user experience.

  • Work towards finalizing the from_to design before beginning implementation.

Am I blocked on anything?

  • No, currently I do not have any blocking issues.
