GSoC bonding period

Hello everyone:

Congratulations to the participants that were accepted:

I think those are their handle in Discourse, please confirm.

We are starting the bonding period.

Please put an emoji when you read any of the mentors messages.

First of all I would thing that all of you live in India, and will be in India during the coding period.
I think the best meeting time is on my early morning which becomes your evening/night

During the bonding period we will have:

  • bonding period meetings and
  • show and tell meetings

Meetings happen on
Osgeo Meet pgrouting room

I expect you to join on the bonding period meetings.
I like the meetings on my Mondays (more if needed), which leave you the whole weekdays to work
The show and tell meetings can happen any day.

Therefore our first bonding meeting will happens next Monday.

  • 9am Mexico 8:30pm India
  • 8am Mexico 7:30pm India
  • 7am Mexico 6:30pm India

Note that Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I have (Japanese) class at my 11am so the 9am meetings can not be extended. That is why my vote is not for 9am, but I am available for one hour.

Tasks for the first bonding period meeting:
ASAP: I need to confirm the github nick you have to send you an invitation so that you can work on our repositories.

Using this tempalte
Prepare the wiki page that you will be filling along the coding period
(you need access to edit our wiki, so confirm your github handle ASAP)

We have 3 bonding period weeks so we can study the proposals (at least one per week).

First bonding period meeting agenda:

  • Personal Introductions
  • Introduction on how we will be working
  • Proposal revisions:
    • Group revision of (at least) one proposal
    • Check the created wiki vs the proposal

Summary of tasks

  • Students: vote
  • Students: confirm github handle (ASAP)
  • Students: confirm handle on discourse
  • Mentors: Add students to pgRouting organization
  • Students: accept invitation
  • Students: prepare the wiki page

First show and tell

There are a lot of PR pending to be revised, merged or close.
Including a couple of PRs from me.
I will start now reviewing the PR.

Hi all

Regina added you as collaborators, you will receive 2 invitations, please accept them, then you can create your wiki page on pgRouting wiki.

pre-selection of GSoC we basically had the restriction that you use one thread to communicate with us.
Now its a different story:
Please do create new threads as needed.

Think of my threads (like this one) for general purposes.

Kinda instead of having a question format is more like a discussion format.
Your question is someone else’s question in the future and probably was someone else’s question in the past. So as discussion, they will see the line of thoughts to arrive to the solution. (like teach to fish instead of giving the fish to eat)

Hi all

tomorrow at 8am Mexico 7:30pm India will be our bonding meeting.

Today, now:
I am at our meeting room
Ready to start with the show & tell to go thru the PR that I have pending on pgRouting
If someone shows up I will start the show and tell.

Note: it is not critical to be on the show and tell, what is critical is that my PR needs to be merged ASAP, and I need to do stuff to do that and sharing what I do its the purpose of the show and tell..
