GSOC Introduction - Ritesh

My name is Ritesh Ramesh Prabhu, and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore.

Over the past two years, I have developed strong proficiency in both C++ and Python, particularly in problem-solving and Data Structures & Algorithms. These languages have helped me build a solid foundation in software development and computational thinking. Currently, I am exploring Java to deepen my understanding of object-oriented programming concepts and design principles.

In addition to my core programming skills, I have experience in web development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I also possess a basic understanding of relational databases, including PostgreSQL. As part of my practical experience, I developed a student feedback system for my college using Next.js, where I worked on both frontend and backend components. This project gave me exposure to handling real-world requirements and working with moderately large codebases.

I am also particularly interested in the theoretical and design aspects of the project—especially how graph algorithms, data structures, and system components interact to build efficient routing solutions. I look forward to improving my coding practices while gaining a deeper understanding of system design and large-scale software development.

I am highly motivated to learn, collaborate, and contribute to open-source projects, and I am excited that my first experience comes with a strong and impactful community like OSGeo. Google Summer of Code provides a valuable opportunity for me to enhance my technical skills and gain mentorship while working on real-world problems.

I am committed to dedicating the required time and effort throughout the program and look forward to making valuable contributions to the organization.

Sincerely,
Ritesh Ramesh Prabhu
