Tell us about yourself

Hi everyone,

My name is Tan, and I am a Computer Science freshman from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in Vietnam. I am applying to GSoC 2026 for the “MCP for OGC APIs” project with 52°North.

Over the past days, I have been studying the project idea, the MCP architecture, and the related OGC API concepts. I have also completed the code challenge by containerizing the pygeoapi backend and successfully running the hello-world process asynchronously.

What do you want to learn / contribute

My current interest for the proposal is the design of an MCP server that can expose OGC APIs cleanly to an LLM host while keeping the interface structured, practical, and scalable for real geospatial workflows.

I am excited to learn from the community and would be very happy to connect with others working around OSGeo, OGC APIs, MCP, and geospatial open source.

I need an OSGeo account for the following (ctrl+click all that apply)

Become a google summer of code participant

Note the deadline for submitting gsoc proposals was today so if you haven’t submitted you are too late for this year. You don’t need an osgeo id unless you are accepted to gsoc under the osgeo umbrella.

Thank you for the reminder! I just hit submit.
