[Marketing] A question to the marketing committee

Hello to everybody.

As the Spanish Local Chapter Liaison Officer, I've been asked to send
you this question:

Hi,

OSGeo-es (OSGeo Spanish Local Chapter) is going to have some
activities at Informatica 2009, a huge event in La Havana, Cuba, next
February. We need some funds to get some t-shirts, materials for an
OpenSteetMaps Mapping Party and some catering for an official
reception with the event organization (a kind of Cuban tradition).

We are thinking about asking our community to donate funds and get a
t-shirt in exchange, in order to help complementing our necessities.
We're are talking of < 1000EU and the idea is just to seem a serious
group of well uniformed OSGeo guys :slight_smile:

So, we want to ask this committee if there is any problem in asking
our community to donate/buy a t-shirt (with this design [1] more or
less) on behalf of OSGeo-es. Should we ask to the board also?

Hola Pedro-Juan,

It's great to hear you are so organised to consider this. If you are going to be handling all the money yourself and taking care of the shirts too, then there is no need to involve the marketing committee at all. Or are you asking the committee for some sort of help? I assume you are only wondering if there is an official process - in this case there is nothing to stand in your way. :slight_smile:

Hello Tyler!

In fact the treasurer is going to be Jorge Gaspar Sanz. :slight_smile:

We only wanted the marketing committee to hear about our "plans", in
order to know if there was any problem on using OSGeo name, or an
official process as you suggested.

We don't know what is going to be the response from the community
about all this "support t-shirt", but we're doing our best in order to
cause a good impression in Cuba.
