[Marketing] [Board] OSGeoeb-Site issues

Hi Ian

···

Looping in marketing committee.

Thank you for your offer to help others to finish your Drupal 8 work.
Are you by any chance aware of others in our community, who I could ask and who have Drupal 8 experience?
Nicolas Bozon (cc) is presently taking on the revamping of our logo etc.
If you have any suggestions, please feel free to share with us. I do it want to lose valuable work done by you and others.

Vriendelijke groet,
Marc Vloemans

Hi board,

I’ve decided to step down as chair of webcom. My original intention was to rebuild the site with full multilingual capabilities using Drupal 8. This is not an especially difficult task, but it is too big to take on in voluntary time (to do it right) and I’ve had to focus on paid work for family reasons.

Webcom is currently a bit more active than it has been in recent years with a few more recent users now having admin access to the site. Most of the board and project leads also have editor access. I’ve also listed a few long term members on the webcom page [1] who have admin access and could always step in to give other users more access.

I will continue to respond to direct emails for help (and monitor the webcom list when I can).

Ian

You should all have access to edit website pages, or raise a trac ticket for sidebars. We took an action item and got some of this resolved - rather than talk about it please fix anything that was missed

We have done some of the work, as for communication news item blog posts are always welcome.

Thanks Maxi, Helena and everyone for following up this.

I will email Jason (webmaster) to update the Geo4All main website to reflect this (Apologies for the delay in this Helena as i was busy with some urgent work deliverables here).

Once everything is ready, i suggest that the OSGeo Board sends a communication to the wider community. Thanks.

Suchith

My understanding is that edu committee doesn’t exist anymore but switched by geo4all.

As I suggested in my email to Jody, the committee website should say

Geo for all: Education and research outreach

(it now says only Geo for all so education has disapeared completely).
I can try to do the change myself as I should have access
to osgeo website but I haven’t tried it yet and it may take me some time to figure it out - so if anybody has already
edited the osgeo website (or website committee member) and can do it faster - please do edit this web page

http://www.osgeo.org/content/foundation/committees.html

Did we do a communication for this to the whole community?

Not yet - I believe that there should be a news release about this coordinated with Suchith,
but we should finish and approve the f2f minutes first so that we can point to the minutes
to document that the transition was indeed officialy approved.

The f2f minutes are held up by the name to be assigned to the MOU action to collect
all MOUs in Dropbox and create an osgeo webpage with list (with links) of the MOUs.
All MOUs are already available at wiki accessible through this list, but this could be hard to find

Forwarding to the webcomm list… We may be asked to create track tickets for some of them.

Geo4All should be listed as a committee - looks like we missed a reference to the education committee.

Dear All,

I am checking the OSGeo website (initially the items
under “OSGeo Foundation” menu) and think that
the following issues need to be fixed. I will continue
checking under the “OSGeo Community” menu.

a) http://www.osgeo.org/content/foundation//meetings/2006_02_04/announcement.html
Shows a blank page

b) http://www.osgeo.org/content/foundation//meetings/2006_02_04/notes.html

  1. Can be shown as direct HTML
  2. “Microdoft OneNote Version” link show “page not found” can be removed.

c)http://www.osgeo.org/content/foundation//meetings/2006_02_04/meeting.html
“Pictures” URL needs to be changed. Just a link to actual pictures should
be fine.

d) http://www.osgeo.org/content/faq/foundation_faq.html needs to be updated
What is the legal form of the foundation? says we are tax-exempt under 501c(3).
Is is 501c(4) or 501c(3)>

e) http://www.osgeo.org/content/foundation/committees.html
Do we need to put Geo4All details here.

f) http://www.osgeo.org/sponsorship/opportunities
“Read more about OpenLayers sponsorship opportunities”
link is broken
“Read more about Mapbender sponsorship opportunities”
link is broken

Need to request the respective PSCs to fix their sponsor pages
or provide a new link.

Is the postal address shown above correct?
