[Marketing] Call for help with OSGeo Booth materials

Hello Marketing Committee,

We need your expertise to assist with location materials for the OSGeo
Booth in Nottingham. I have placed what we currently know on the wiki:
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G2013_OSGeo_Booth

Please jump into that wiki and help (where popup banner is, where
material templates are, what templates to use, provide links to ready
docs, drape for table...). I am needing your expertise/experience. If
we provide the material docs (in svn for example) the LOC has offered to
print locally what we need.

Thanks!

-jeff

update: the Spanish chapter has a banner, so I have contacted them for
its use.

Wiki is uptodate with this.

I'm hoping the OSGeo Marketing Committee can step in and assist with
producing materials for printing.

Jeff,
The marketing committee is very quiet, and wiki pages out of date.
Here are some links which may be of value:

Marketing Pack: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Al9zh8DjmU_RcHU5MDE0Z3lienJlWUtkVjgtV1FfU0E#gid=0

Banner:
http://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/marketing/exhibitionpack/OSGeo_popup3.pdf

A poster, a bit out of date:
https://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/livedvd/promo/trunk/en/poster/

Bob Basque developed a video loop. Bob, do you want to update that for FOSS4G?

Hi Cameron,

I have reviewed the marketing pack, which essentially is an outdated
brochure, and a business card. Are there any volunteers to update these
brochures?

One thing that is really needed is a brochure or poster of the current
OSGeo sponsors (as listed on
http://www.osgeo.org/content/sponsorship/sponsors.html). This is very
important (hard to have an OSGeo Booth and not visibly credit the
sponsor organizations). If anyone can help with this for Nottingham
please let me know (or dive into
http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/FOSS4G2013_OSGeo_Booth)

Talk soon,

Jeff,

If we have a projector we can have an auto-rotating slides deck about
OSGeo with all the sponsors logos and some text. We can put this when
we don't have anything more interesting to show.

Just an idea

Ahh and it's pretty sure I'll go to the State of The Map conference
with the banner so I asked and they granted me to place it somewhere
during the conference. So yes, OSGeo will be present at the SoTM

Cheers!

Jorge this is an excellent idea. I love it. (i've heard from our
sponsors before that our booths have zero mention of them...a slideshow
would at least be something)

Hi Jeff, Marketing,

Just to let you know we’re pretty much out of time for organising printing. If you get something to us over this weekend then we’ll do our best to get it printed, but otherwise we’ll have to draw a line on Monday morning. Alternatively, feel free to bring materials with you.

The stall should run okay without handouts - we’ve got comfortable seating, table, drape, monitor for displaying sponsor details etc + Jorge and Suchith are bringing roll out banners. If anyone has a spare laptop lock then that would be very useful.

See you all in 10 days,

Ian

Huge thanks Ian!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe out of this experience, the OSGeo Marketing Committee can set
aside some funding for updating the handouts. These are
super-important. I believe we did set aside funding in the 2013 budget,
but it was likely ate up by the live dvd. I think this experience has
taught us that maintaining these handouts is a priority for the
marketing committee, and should be funded (as our volunteers are swamped
already). Especially a maintained OSGeo sponsors banner template.

Cya soon Ian!

Jeff,

There are regular recommendations for what the marketing committee should do, assuming that there is a marketing committee and people behind it doing something.

The primary issue is not money. It is lack of marketing committee volunteers to process requests for marketing funds and sign off according to some fair criteria.

(Hint, someone volunteering to put some effort into a marketing committee will be able to address some low hanging fruit and get some quick wins.)

Are you going to add the sponsors for this year’s event to your slideshow, in addition to the long term sponsors?

(I’m cc’ing everyone because my mailing lists are spiraling out of control, I have three emails and can’t remember which one goes to which list anymore! )
