Folks,
can you [2] please ping back and confirm that you are still an active
member of the Marketing Committee [1] and ready to contribute and vote?
We need to take this poll to check how many people will actually vote on
issues.
If you are interested in participating in this committee (which is the
spearhead of one of the most interesting online tech communities around
and even has some money to spend).

I think that only elected or invited people on this list should vote.
I'm just an observer, that reads the emails on the list. Can I keep this observer status? Or should I state my opinions, even if I don't agree to use [the marketing] money to support local chapters?

Jorge,
It is absolutely my opinion that any OSGeo supporter should feel free to
speak up on committee lists like this and other venues with their opinion.
Actual votes should only be counted from committee members, but if you
were willing I bet it wouldn't be hard to get on the committee!
Best regards,

Oh, I can see that I broke off in mid sentence causing some confusion.
What I wanted to say is:
If you are interested in participating in this committee then please
just do it. No matter how much you disagree or what strange ideas you
have, please make yourself heard. There are no dumb questions just dumb
answers.
If you want to become a voting member of the committee you should first
introduce yourself on the mailing list and then nominate yourself as
committee member. The committee will then make a motion and vote to have
you formally join (unless they think you are unworthy of becoming a
member in which case you can go complain to the board of directors if
you think that the committee has done you wrong).
Best regards,
Arnulf

Sure, please let this list know what you think, no matter whether you
are formal member or not. When it comes to deciding things only formal
members can vote. If you want to become a formal member to prevent us
from wasting marketing money please feel free to join the committee.
