[Marketing] Draft EOI for Branding and Website Project

Hi Folks,

I've started a draft of the Expression of Interest for the Branding
and Website project. I've copied in alot of the content from a similar
procurement I did for the World Bank so there are still remnants of
that that need to be revised.

The doc is open for public edits, so please go ahead and add comments
or just edit directly.

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UJPiiVSV5U2CBaVFFjiHQ4qn1Vf5DOgEb83IFCxVQkw/edit#

Looking forward to moving forward on this project.

Jeff

Thanks Jeff - you are hitting the ground running. I added a few comments; and will check back as time permits.

I've now done a major edit today and its largely looking pretty good IMO.

The things to revise are these

* Jody can you update the goals section per your comments and slide
deck. I've updated the key initiatives, feel free to edit
* Revise the technical details of the CMS. I left in the static on
github pages approach, but I think wordpress or drupal Nimay be much
easier for our users
* Nicolas please review the bullet points describing the brand guide
and components of the website
* Astrid, please help with Component III which is the collateral for
exhibitions etc
* I will revise the schedule to reflect what we have discussed with
the launch date of around August 1st a few weeks before FOSS4G and an
end contract date of August 31st that includes wrap up with feedback
during FOSS4G
* We need to decide how responses will be submitted and please
everyone read through the language at the end about what is to be
submitted this first round to be sure its clear.
* Add links to all things mentioned in Annex II

I've attached a PDF draft to this mail for easy consumption or forwarding.

Looking forward to finalizing this and moving forward

* Jody can you update the goals section per your comments and slide
deck. I've updated the key initiatives, feel free to edit

I grouped into (external objectives) and (internal objectives); are all of
these useful for the website? I guess we are describing the organization
and not what we expect of the website...

* Revise the technical details of the CMS. I left in the static on

github pages approach, but I think wordpress or drupal Nimay be much
easier for our users

How do we make this decision; or who do we talk to at SAC to make this
decision?

I've attached a PDF draft to this mail for easy consumption or forwarding.

Looking forward to finalizing this and moving forward

Thanks Jeff, great work!

I think its fine. Yeah, its just Foundation background.

* Revise the technical details of the CMS. I left in the static on

How do we make this decision; or who do we talk to at SAC to make this
decision?

I dont think its SACs decision. They will be happy to deploy whatever
software works and is open source. We have to take care to think about
our users (insofar as who is maintaining content). I _dont_ think
GitHub pages is the way to go because we do as many people possible to
edit it. Perhaps we could do a survey and post to discuss when we get
started? We dont have to decide now, can change the wording here to be
less specific.

I've attached a PDF draft to this mail for easy consumption or forwarding.

Looking forward to finalizing this and moving forward

Thanks Jeff, great work!

Great document Jeff and all,
I have slightly edited Component 1 and 2 sections.
Also added most of the ‘Projects’ links in Annex 2.
Will probably input more small edits by Monday.

Have a good week end

Best regards,

Nick

I tried filling in the goal section as per your request; not sure if it adds value or distracts (you may wish to cut when you have clear head).

I also had a go at pushing incubation into the background (since it is really “how projects can join” and thus not end-user focused). Once again cut if needed.

I've gone ahead and updated the CMS section to be agnostic about which
platform will be used. Please review.

I believe all strikethrough and major edits have been taken care of
now. There are some outstanding key questions we should perhaps
discuss on another marketing call.

I feel like the document attached is now pretty much ready for release
having taken into account everyones feedback.

Lets discuss next steps ASAP so we can get this out and get moving!

Did you want to call a marketing meeting Jeff? I understand the call for EOI should go out shortly (tomorrow?).

My availability is limited this week, and am happy to vote via email if I cannot make a meeting this week. Or you can just proceed with an email motion.

It is also worth reviewing the fundraising target/story perhaps we can offer the injustice sponsors publicity of some form over the course of the project.

I want to make sure the Doc is in really good shape, but the timeline
is very very ambitious as it is, so if we want to get the new site
launched before FOSS4G, we better get on it

Ill wait for more feedback today and see where to go from there, its
easy enough to change the dates, I just dont want to stretch things
out too long or we wont be done in time for Boston.

now. There are some outstanding key questions we should perhaps

discuss on another marketing call.

I feel like the document attached is now pretty much ready for release

having taken into account everyones feedback.

Lets discuss next steps ASAP so we can get this out and get moving!

Did you want to call a marketing meeting Jeff? I understand the call for EOI
should go out shortly (tomorrow?).

My availability is limited this week, and am happy to vote via email if I
cannot make a meeting this week. Or you can just proceed with an email
motion.

It is also worth reviewing the fundraising target/story perhaps we can offer
the injustice sponsors publicity of some form over the course of the
project.

I’ve now done a major edit today and its largely looking pretty good

IMO.

The things to revise are these

  • Jody can you update the goals section per your comments and slide

deck. I’ve updated the key initiatives, feel free to edit

  • Revise the technical details of the CMS. I left in the static on

github pages approach, but I think wordpress or drupal Nimay be much

easier for our users

  • Nicolas please review the bullet points describing the brand guide

and components of the website

  • Astrid, please help with Component III which is the collateral for

exhibitions etc

  • I will revise the schedule to reflect what we have discussed with

the launch date of around August 1st a few weeks before FOSS4G and
an

end contract date of August 31st that includes wrap up with feedback

during FOSS4G

  • We need to decide how responses will be submitted and please

everyone read through the language at the end about what is to be

submitted this first round to be sure its clear.

  • Add links to all things mentioned in Annex II

I’ve attached a PDF draft to this mail for easy consumption or

forwarding.

Looking forward to finalizing this and moving forward
