Hi OSGeo-Marketing -

Green marketers are backing a "climate strike" on Friday, 20sep19, which includes many public-facing actions, symbolic or otherwise.

One marketer is writing "many websites will go dark for the climate-strike" (TriplePundit)

I suggest that we put a one-day "black banner" on some sites here -- it is political, but I feel that the actual air, dirt and water that all life depends on, transcends politics.

a quick poll shows that there is Board support for this, little/no downside, so let's do it.

I am not quite good enough to add banners to our site (we are not setup for ads) … but we can make our photo background black for the day.

If you are interested in participating in our outreach efforts Brian you are more then welcome to join the marketing committee. It is a very relaxed group (indeed we may have a meeting later this year).

I could not find much evidence of this being picked up by other websites, or mentioned in the coverage on today’s climate strike.

hmm… I would think something short … not a lecture, nor impressive talking heads.

(there are massive missives on every aspect, and people are bombarded by it.)
