[Marketing] Improve Sintony font?

Dear Marketing Committee,

Thank you for your effort on making OSGeo more beautiful.

Trying to translate new OSGeo promotional material I forund out that one of the new fonts - Sintony - used for our brochures do not support Polish diacritics. Is it possible that we forgot about i18n?
There are more languages with diacritics, based on Latin alphabet. I believe we should support those, as we are a worldwide organization.

One solution might be to improve the font which, to my knowledge, has open license. Is that possible?

Sending also a screenshot showing how bad it might look like.

Best,

Let’s ask Pim (graphic designer) - perhaps there is a more complete copy of the font? I do not remember what constrains we put on font selection,

Double checking to see if there are any gaps:

  1. Using the following page: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Sintony
  2. And cutting and pasting sentences from https://live.osgeo.org/pl/index.html

I have not been able to find any gaps, do you have an example sentence we can try?

update: When you download the font it looks like you can choose Latin or Latin extended.

Hi Jody,

I see the gaps, try this sentence:
Zażółć gęślą jaźń.

I do not see any difference when I choose Latin extended on download. The zip file seems to consist the same font files.

Best,
Milena

Thanks Milena, that is what we needed to proceed. Pim works in CEST so we will get a response tomorrow.
If anyone else here is good with fonts please chime in!

Response from the meeting was to drop back to different font (even MiriamLibre) in this case. We assume this approach will be needed for other languages as well?
