Please be aware that printing banners, table runner, flyers and other collateral should best be done locally. But that would mean someone local to take care of that.

I think this all needs to come together ASAP and fear missing another 24hr window.

Jody,

Can you please ask sara and potentially Thea nicely? I am working up against a deadline at the office and have not had time to come up for air.

I think this all needs to come together ASAP and fear missing another 24hr window.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give in this coordination effort.

I think if we ask nice Sara could do this, and perhaps bring stuff to FOSS4G for reuse.

Do we know where current booth is? Michael Smith has a table cloth banner that could be mailed if new branding is not ready yet.

Please be aware that printing banners, table runner, flyers and other collateral should best be done locally. But that would mean someone local to take care of that.

I would like to make the following motion:

“Accept OSCON Austin’s offer of an exhibitor pass (May 10 & 11) and
approve exhibition pack / marketing collateral”

Because of the dates May 10 & 11th we will need to check with the
rebranding schedule to determine when to print.

We are a new marketing committee and you are doing something new.

Thoughts:

  • If you want something official make an email motion and we can vote on it
  • We can ask Sara is there is a local OSGeo chapter we can send marketing
    collateral to
  • Sara seems keen (and I can work with Boundless management so she is
    available)
  • I can bring it up at the next LocationTech steering committee meeting
    (with respect to Thea’s availability)

aside: OSGeo is a not-for-profit (as is the eclipse foundation)

Jody,

agreed on all your suggestions. Can you please help me figure out the best
next steps? Does someone on the Markting committee need to sign off on this
stuff? I am not sure what the protocol is exactly. We will need to get
OSGeo collateral there somehow.

Great hustle Guido. Both the individuals named would be great
representatives and I like the idea of paying less for travel.

Both would need to ask their employers so it would be kind to ask with
enough time for them to get approval.

Hey marketing folks,

As stated in a prior email, in my attempts to promote FOSS4G in the larger
Open Source Community, I applied for a OSCON non-profit exhibitor spot. I
applied on behlaf of OSGeo, because FOSS4G is a part of the OSGeo family,
but not really an organization in itself.

Good news, OSCON Austin <https://conferences.oreilly.com/oscon/oscon-tx>
have chosen OSGeo to take a spot as a non-profit exhibitor. So we get a
table, 2 seats, and 1 badge.

While I would love to attend on behalf of OSGeo, I think that it would
make more sense to have some local folks take part in this. In my mind I
would love to talk Sara Safavi into this if she is available. Also, if
possible we might be able to get Thea from LocationTech, who is local-ish,
to attend and then we could also share the potential outreach to the larger
community? To be clear, I am sharing my thoughts, these folks have not been
notified of my idea.

Please let me know what you think and if needed, could we meet to discuss
this week?

Also, to be clear, I am still trying to get a spot at the AAG in Boston
<http://www.aag.org/cs/calendar_of_events/aag_annual_meetings> (which I
will be able to attend without issue) and I am also thinking about talking
to the folks at Red Hat Summit Boston
<https://www.redhat.com/en/summit/2017> as well.

Thank you for your guidance,

Guido

p.s. here is a listing of the events with their dates in order:

4/5-4/9 AAG, Boston
5/2-5/4 Red Hat Summit, Boston
5/10-5/11 OSCON, Austin

p.s.s. The AAG option I speak of is now something I am talking to Jody,
Boundless, and LocationTech about because there is no free pass
