[Marketing] OSGeo as Strategic Institutional Partner for GWF 2013

Board,
I seem to have missed to add this to our last board meeting agenda,
sorry about this.

Geospatial Media and Communications, the organizer of the Geospatial
World Forum 2013 scheduled to be held in May 2013 in the Netherlands
invites OSGeo to become a Strategic Institutional Partner. It does not
involve any financial obligations from our side but we have the option
to organize an Open Source track (similar to what we did this year with
the great help of the OSGeo.NL team) and may also have a booth or info
corner for free.

The conference is envisaged to be attended by around 1500 delegates from
over 80 countries across the globe.

OSGeo already is Strategic Institutional Partner at the Asia edition of
the conference [1] so I don't know whether there is need for more
discussion here but I wanted to make this an official motion anyway.

I will send around a separate mail with a motion to accept the invitation.

Best regards,
Arnulf

I'm +1 on this motion based upon:
* No cost to OSGeo
* Branding for OSGeo

OSGeo-Board, I assume that these sort of requests for support forconferences should be handled by the marketing committee (or I'd also accept the conference committee)?

Megha,
Are you the right person to talk to about this conference? I'd be interested to hear if you have someone coordinating OSGeo activities and possibly coordinate with them.

Megha,
Nice to meet you.
I'm interested to know what you have organised so far, and suggest some things we can help you with, that we do for other projects.

Do you have someone from the OSGeo community yet who will coordinate things? If not I suggest we try to find someone.
Would you like to see OSGeo related presentation(s) and/or workshops? We have an excellent high level overview of the best geospatial open source software applications available.

We have a DVD of the best Open Source geospatial applications, preconfigured with sample data, ready to test. These DVD are often given to all delegates, or workshop attendees at conferences.

Hi Cameron,

Yes, I am the concerned person from Geospatial Media and Communications for
coordinating for all our conferences. Feel free to revert to me in case of
any queries. I would like to clarify that we would not be in position to
offer a booth to OSGeo like in GWF 2012, but if you need to distribute some
material to the delegates, then we can discuss on ways to get that done.

Kind regards,
Megha
