[Marketing] OSGeo Booth at CGS

http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/CGS_2008

Proposed booth to table at the California Geographical Society to increase market share in the academic institutions of California. This conference is geared more towards the Cal State, Community College and High School educators as opposed to the University of California (UC) system, so it's an area that probably hasn't had as much marketing previously.

Landon Blake and I will manage the table and have at least 3 additional volunteers to help since Chico is close to UC Davis where I've been running classes on OSGeo software.

The only critical deadline is to book the booth before April 15th, which Landon negotiated to $75. Once we get the ok, which seemed to pass at the April 10th irc meeting who actually makes the payment?

The wiki page contains price estimates of the supplies we'll need.

Suggestions welcome,
Alex

Hi Alex,
thanks for the wrap up. Marketing will fund the U$D 75,-, please contact Tyler Mitchell for where to send the invoice, etc.

Please contact Michael Gerlek (mpg) for 5 original OSGeo T-shirts (you, Landon and the three volunteers). He will send them to your postal address.

Michael,
as usual please get your reimbursement from Tyler.

Poster?! If you need them printed out at $50,- please make sure they can be reused a few times and then I think we can also put this on our bill.

If this process is OK for you please go ahead.

Committee:
Do we need to vote on this? If yes:

I motion to spend the above specified amounts from the Marketing event support budget for CGS 2008 with Alex Mandel and Landon Blake acting as responsible contacts. http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/CGS_2008

(this needs a second)

Best regards Arnulf.

I've not been in the T-shirt business for quite some time -- I can
certainly do it, but I think Tyler's been handling it via a different
distributor..?

Best regards Arnulf.

I might be able to get the poster printing donated by a lab on campus and would definitely keep it around UC Davis for other events like GIS Day, Picnic Day (Open House), etc.

Is there a poster file that's already been made or is that my homework for the conference?

Thanks,
Alex

You have these on-hand already Michael? Otherwise I have some here already too that I can send (Shirts 2.0  )

I have a pull-up/pop-up banner that has an old FOSS4G 2007 poster in it. Would replacing it with a generic OSGeo poster and shipping it to you help?

Dave Percy has the table skirt, I believe. I'm not sure the timing for when he needs it, but I believe there are a few months between this event and then.

I'll second it, but would like to make sure they have enough for a couple helpers to also attend the event too (it's like a $35 fee + food) in case they need it. That's where Alex's $300 figure came from. That's booth (75), 2 attendee tickets and food (150) and some printing - I think it's a good deal.

If we could just amend the motion to allow ~$300 to cover the event, I think that'd work for me.

No, mine all went out a year ago (see http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Shirts)

I have the OSGeo popup banner (with the slightly out-dated list of projects
and the Autodesk logo on it) here at my house. While I was able to foot the
bill to ship the table drape down to Percy, if someone wants the banner we
will probably need to work out how to pay for shipping as it is quite a bit
larger. Happy to help get it out to someone who needs it though... just
drop me an email.

I'll coordinate the shipping and payment with them all, off-list.
