[Marketing] OSGeo Business Card reproduced

Hi,

I'm sending a tiny package with reproduction of OSGeo Business Card design
based on printed versions I collected some time ago from Tyler and Arnulf
Simply, I couldn't find any editable templates for the OSGeo card
and I created one myself using Inkscape (in SVG format).

Please, find the attached file OSGeo_Business_Card_mloskot.tar.gz
I'd like to ask for comments and confirmation that it looks good enough to print official OSGeo cards.

The below is copied from the attached README.txt file:

The business card is available in two color version: RGB and CMYK.

I used the original design of OSGeo logo, files OSGeo_wTag.png (RGB)
and OSGeo_CMYK_wTag.png, available at http://www.osgeo.org/logos.

Colors and typography used in the design follow the OSGeo Branding Guide
available at http://download.osgeo.org/osgeo/logos/OSGeo_logo_guide.pdf

Because I'm sending it to the public mailing list, I believe I should
include the following note:
***
The OSGeo Business Card template is available under the terms of the OSGeo
Trademark Guidelines available at
http://www.osgeo.org/content/foundation/legal/trademark_guidelines.html
***

Also I've been wondering if it would be a good idea to start a Wiki page dedicated to the OSGeo business card, for instance http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Business_Card

Looking forward your comments...

OSGeo_Business_Card_mloskot.tar.gz (3.42 KB)

Did you feel you got a good enough font? That was the only thing wrong with the cards was that they used a proprietary font that most users will never have.

Are you happy with the result?

Tyler,

I followed the OSGeo Branding Guide in all elements, so the font I used
in my template is Bitstream Vera Sans (Roman and Oblique).
I visually compared this font with the one used in your card and I believe
they both are the same (or very close).

Are you happy with the result?

Yes, I am. Actually, the card I've sent IMO looks almost the same
as yours and Arnulf's printed versions.

Yes, not bad. The only I wished I had on my card was the full name of the organisation  It would have helped remind people that "open source" was part of what we were talking about.

I agree with your idea of including the notice and having a wiki page explaining its appropriate usage.

I think it's a good idea. I'd put it above the logo, from the top-left corner
toward the location info.

Cool

Cool

Thanks for getting the SVG together - I know a few folks have asked for it over the years.

Tyler

Folks,

In the first package, I made a mistake by not embedding the logo PNG files
in output SVG. So, I'm re-sending the same OSGeo_Business_Card_mloskot.tar.gz
attachement but with fixed SVG files.

Also, I've started the Wiki: http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/BusinessCards

Tyler,

I'm sending new version (v2) of the card. I replaced the OSGeo tag below the logo
with the OSGeo full name.

I think it looks better now

What's your opinion?

Yves,

Yes, I apparently did. Grr, graphic design is not my domain
Anyway, I completely reworked the OSGeo business card desing today
and now the logo is a pure SVG vector graphic instead of embedded image.

I've attached OSGeo_Business_Card_mloskot.tar.gz package with the new version.

From the README.txt:

OSGeo Business Card by mloskot

This is design of OSGeo Business Card

The design is based on printed versions of OSGeo cards I collected
some time ago from Tyler and Arnulf, so I'm not the author of it.
I've just reproduced it to editable form in SVG format.

There are two versions included:
OSGeo_Business_Card_wTag - logo with OSGeo tag/motto
OSGeo_Business_Card_wFullname - logo with full name of the OSGeo

The card design was produced with Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org/).
The SVG files are considered as an editable source of the OSGeo card.
Additionally, EPS and PDF files are provided for convenience.

The OSGeo logo was converted from from OSGeo_CMYK_wTag.eps file to SVG format
using Scribuss (http://www.scribus.net/) with applied color management.
So, the source CMYK colors have been translated to the following RGB codes:

Green: 72,194,75
Light Green: 164, 194, 75
Pale Green: 200, 219, 145

Typography used in the design follow the OSGeo Branding Guide
available at http://download.osgeo.org/osgeo/logos/OSGeo_logo_guide.pdf

I'm sending it to the public mailing list, so I believe I should include the following note:

Greetings

Mateusz,

Do you want to add these files to the cards/ folder I'm adding to the https://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/marketing/

Say the word and I'll commit them in for you.

Side note should we group sets of files like these as subfolders?
