[Marketing] OSGeo project flyer in svg format

Hello,

at the moment we are translating the project flyer to german.

svg files
----------
To do this we need the flyer in svg format. GRASS is missing as svg f.e.

Could you please provide svg for all flyer on github?

Some are missing. Who can do this? How is the workflow?

Documentation of the workflow
--------------------------------
Can we provide more information about the workflow (install fonts, how to edit files, how to name them). Lot of the information was shared via mailinglist. Or is it already documented somewhere?

Maybe in the osgeo/marketing/README.md at master · OSGeo/osgeo · GitHub

Or in a README in subfolder https://github.com/OSGeo/osgeo/blob/master/marketing/print/README.md

Where can we push the de version?
----------------------------------
We would like to push the de versions of the flyer to github too. Is there already a structure? Can we put them somewhere temporary?

Note we have not yet received the completed indesign files (which would be used to produce the SVG), as we complete the contract here the deliverables will be provided.

We have not yet desided on SVG, based on our experience with InkScape it does not seem like the best approach. The projects that used Scribus was easier to manage. What do you think?

We will need to determine a good strategy for organizing the repository to account for languages; one disadvantage we had last time was the translations getting out of date. Do you have any example organizations you would like to recommend?

Yes probably Scribus is easier to manage, for this kind of product..

We got a copy of the “laptop frame” in github now which will help matching the look provided by Get Interactive.

Hello,

german language project flyer - sorry for coming back with the flyer topic.

1. we are ok with the svg format as basis (more or less)

2. First de-flyer versions arrive and need to be improved by GetInteractive:

f.e. GRASS GIS
* Updated GRASS GIS SVG files by neteler · Pull Request #1 · lucadelu/osgeo · GitHub
* see de file : marketing/print/grassgis/grass_a4_DE.svg
* format is not ok, text is ok
* GetInteractive should fix the format

What process shall we choose?
* Shall we make a ticket for GetInteractive to improve the file/s?
* where do we store the a4_de-files afterwards / maybe only temporary?

3. Question about A4 english flyer versions
* are all A4 flyer versions up-to-date in english version? or only the letter version?

I need to print next week. So a solution would be great.

I think git interactive is basically done this stuff Astrid, you are welcome to attend tomorrows meeting and check.

The letter versions as printed are in google drive, I have hesitated to commit into github due to size. But I guess now that they are finalized we can do so.

Hello Jody,

1. marketing meeting
sorry I am not able to join the meeting today. Sorry - I would like to, but have apointments at that time.

2. letter versions
Would be great to have them onb github. We assumed with the translation to work on the up-to-date status of the A4 files on github. Hope that was right.

3. Paper to print on
Can give information about the type of paper to print on?
I can choose between
* 115g or 135g paper?
* shiny or dull?

Quick update, although you can check the meeting notes.

Pim has managed to finish the choose-a-project icons and has a few small details for the style guide. He will be placing this material into google drive and we can review and copy to github (because the files are large I would like to minimize github commits).

As part of the delivery of printable material we will receive the original indesign templates (same google drive → review → github workflow).

Both Pim and Jeffrey would like to help make sure we have a workable solution using some open source application for generating our own PDFs.

a) Time permitting Pim is willing to review the work you have been doing on the de translations
b) Time permitting they can have a look at whatever open source project we use and review the templates we have created.

  • InkScape - was discussed in the meeting and on email threads, not sure if this is going to meet your expectations for translations
  • Scribus - was easier to manage generating PDFs, but usability was not the best

Astrid we need someone on the marketing side to take a lead on this activity. It is sad that our top choice InkScape is not working out very well. Is there anything else we can consider?

Sounds good.
Could you send me the google-Drive link. So I can pick up the files.

I would like to print
* sticker
* Roll-up
* project flyer
in the next days for OSGeo Park at INTERGEO end of september.

So I need the up-to-date files for that.
For sticker - I need the files that you sended to the print company.

Marc and me decided that I print in Germany.

We are fine with working with InkScape at the moment. It is not great working with it but it is ok.
