Venka, Bui Hong Son,
As you will note from below, OSGeo has been invited to present at the Asia Geospatial Forum.
As you are both from the region, I wonder whether you would be able to recommend a suitable person to present on behalf of OSGeo at this conference. Possibly yourself if you will be attending?
We have a valuable presentation which can be a basis for a presentation here:

Dear Cameron,
Trust this mail finds you well.
We have confirmed Asia Geospatial Forum on 17-19 September 2012 in Hanoi, Vietnam. This time we will again have a Technology Session on geospatial Open Source, and I'm wondering if OSGeo would like to have the same projection like we did for Malaysia Geospatial Forum last time.
We will display OSGeo logo as Strategic Partner of the session, and if we can have one representative speaker.
Kindly let me know before 9th May so I can include the same in our brochure.

I don't believe that OSGeo has an official policy on endorsement in using the OSGeo brand. However, if you have a session which is specifically discussing Geospatial Open Source technologies as the primary focus of the presentation, then I suggest that it would be appropriate to make use of the OSGeo brand.

Hello Cameron,
Thank you for your response. I know an Assoc. Prof. who is currently
working to establish an open source lab in his university. I may refer
this matter to him.On another note, I was actually proposing an endorsement from OSGeo
for our Open Source session at the conference. We will display OSGeo
logo on all our promotional materials. Let me know if this can be done
as we're finalizing our brochure today. Thanks,

Date: Tue, Jan 17, 2012 6:02 amHello Sarah,
I'm one of the members of the OSGeo Marketing committee, and also
coordinate the packaging of ~ 50 Geospatial Open Source applications
as part of OSGeo-Live, http://live.osgeo.org .We have compiled a "lightening" presentation which covers the breadth
of Geospatial Open Source applications, which is often presented by
either a keynote speaker, or by one of the conference organisors, or
by one of the OSGeo-Live developers, at conferences around the world.
You can see it here:
https://svn.osgeo.org/osgeo/livedvd/promo/trunk/en/presentation/Do you know someone who you think would be good at giving this
presentation? If not, I can ask around to see if there is another
OSGeo member who may be attending, or who is in the region and can
make the conference. On 16/01/2012 9:59 PM, Just van den Broecke wrote:

We have yet to get any response on below invitation. As it is only 2
months until the event, it would help to confirm at the earliest so
OSGeo won't miss out much on pre-event marketing.Thank you,

Hash: SHA1Folks,
OSGeo is invited to support the "Open Source Geospatial" track aspart of
the "Malaysia Geospatial Forum" [1]. I cannot go myself because I am
on the other side of the world at that time. Ideally we can activate
someone trusted in the area to give an introduction to Open Source
ingeneral and
OSGeo specifically. Maybe someone can later post this on Discuss to
ask there? We have the global version of this event series (the Geospatial
World> Forum
[2]) in Amsterdam this summer which will be coordinated together
with the
OSGeo NL Chapter [3]. The program outline for the "Open Source>
Seminar" on
April 25th, 2012 starts with a Keynote Address, the recent
development in
the software and ends with examples of
successful open source implementations (case studies) potentially
followed by a panel discussion. The model of an OSGeo Local Chapter drafting the program, activating
and QA'ing speakers works perfectly here. With the currently
emergingrole of
OSGeo ambassadors I can also imagine that some expenses could be>
reimbursed
by OSGeo - but this is still in the pipeline, so do not count on it yet.
My experience with events organized by Geospatial Media and>
Communications
have so far been excellent and the interest in continuing to
cooperate on
this end are mutual.
As I will be mostly offline for the better part of the next two
months I would appreciate if the marketing team could pick this up and forge on.Side note:
Some time ago I sent a similar mail to this list regarding the>planning of
the global event in Amsterdam but there was little reaction. I do
believe
that this is an important aspect of the work done through OSGeo and
would
really like to see it being taken up by a broader set of people. So
please do not shy away but be bold.I also sent this to the Education list because it has an educative>
aspects,
albeit different to what universities typically do. The Edu list did
not pick it up at all which is why I fall back to the MarketingCommittee. If
you think this type of event support can be taken on by another
group> within
OSGeo please go ahead.
Best regards,

CC: Kavitha<kavitha@geospatialmedia.net>Greetings, Mr. Christl.
Hope end of the year treats you well.
We're organizing a Seminar on "Open Source Geospatial" as part of
our> agenda
in Malaysia Geospatial Forum next year. Although Open Source is not
yet a
favourite in our country, but I could say the awareness is gradually
increasing. As an effort to increase the profile of this Seminar, Iwould
like to propose an endorsement from OSGeo. We will display OSGeo's>
logo on
our website and all promotional materials of the Forum.
Malaysia Geospatial Forum is scheduled on *6-7 March 2012 in Melaka*
(a State two-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur). If you happened to be inthe> region
around this time, it would be our pleasure to have you as speaker as
