[Marketing] Re: [Local-chapters] Exhibition Starter Pack

On behalf of OSGeo Philippines, we would like to request for the
Exhibition Pack materials.

I (maning) will be participating in several conferences/workshops in
the coming months. It would be nice to bring along these exhibit
materials in these events.

Maning,

Have you found local sources to buy the materials from? Do you have a
price estimate on how much it would cost in US $? Once we get that info
I think we can vote on it.

Thanks,
Alex

Maning,
additionally it would be great if you could add the events to the OSGeo

If it is not clear to you how events work [1] and how they should be

Hello Arnulf and all,
I would like to ask what do you think about using a Google Fusion Table
to deal with the list of the OSGeo events list ? Maybe we can use the table
I’ve created yesterday after passing through the discussion in this list [1].
It is just a start, but as it is shared publicly then everybody should be able
to access and edit the table.

One key advantage I can see of using such a Fusion Table is that the data
can be then displayed on a map easily, as Nicolas Bozon did this morning
here: [2] with another public Fusion Table.

As you noticed in the table I created there is the link to the corresponding
OSGeo Wiki page for this event, this way if we think about building a map
over the data stored in the Fusion Table. Then this map can be used as an
entry page to access all the conferences descriptions stored on the OSGeo
Wiki.

Hope to hear any feedbacks about the idea,
Best regards,

Dear Alex,

My initial quote is in this spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au2WZQ1DwK_xdE83RER6RF9wZW9vQ3ZnX0FKMHNQLVE

Local sources are much cheaper so I doubled the number of some items
(i.e. banners). I can add a few more items like more shirts and
consumables (live-dvds) if this is still within prescribed budget.

Maning,
I'm comfortable with the amount being requested ($US403). However, as advice from someone who has attended conference stands, I suggest that you only have one banner. The reason is that if you need to fly/taxi/bus to a conference, then it is much easier if you only have one stand. And one stand still provides a professional image.
With the extra budget that you save, you may wish to purchase other items, such as shirts, or LiveDVDs.
However, I will leave you to make the final decision. Let me know your thoughts before we put it to the marketing committee for a vote.

Thank you for your kind proposal.

However I don't think our chapter need your help.

Our chapter have several exhibition pack already and we can source other things internally.

Hope OSGeo fund could be used for more valuable places.

Sanghee,
this is excellent, thank you again for your commitment. It was a great
pleasure to be at FOSS4G Korea 2011 [1] in Seoul last year and I can
confirm that the Korean Local Chapter has their act together.

All,
Sanghee gave a presentation [2] on their activities at this event
which can also serve as an inspiration for other local chapters on how
to get started. On slide 10 you can see the OSGeo Korean Local Chapter
booth at the geospatial trade fair which was completely organised and
funded by local businesses but at the same time was as neutral and
inclusive to all as possible. Great work.

Best regards,
Arnulf

However I don't think our chapter need your help.

Hope OSGeo fund could be used for more valuable places.

OSGeo Marketing Committee,
I propose that the OSGeo Marketing Committee approve the allocation of up to $US450 toward the purchasing of OSGeo Marketing Pack equipment for the Philippines local chapter, in line with the budget at: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Au2WZQ1DwK_xdE83RER6RF9wZW9vQ3ZnX0FKMHNQLVE#gid=0

Could all active members please vote within the next 48 hours, before Friday 11 May.

Maning, I'm hopeful that you will keep your spending to your budget of $421, but have allowed an approval buffer of up to $450 in case some items cost more than quoted.
