OSGeo will have a presence at this year's O'Reilly OSCON [1] in Portland Oregon July 22-24th for the third year in a row. If you would like to be involved, David Percy is heading up the volunteer group that will be staffing the booth (provided by IBM to Portland State Univeristy and Oregon State University).
If you will be attending OSCON and would like to sign up for an an hour or two of answering questions and spreading the word, please contact Percy at percyd@pdx.edu for access to the sign-up spreadsheet.

Tyler,
I'd love to see this event managed in the Wiki as discussed several times. But it seems like I am the only one who cares to do it this way so maybe it is overkill. What do you think?

Best regards, Arnulf.

I agree - it should be managed through the wiki page. Percy - can you please review this page, in particular the "Event Owner" section: http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Event_Management

There have been complaints (not as strongly, more like modest suggestions) that this page is way too complicated and should be fleshed out. Feel free to do that if you feel like it. It is not official policy or anything like that.

Best regards, Arnulf.

Hi guys, I never had time to edit the Wiki, and just used a shared google spreadsheet to manage booth times.

Brian and I are mostly covering it, and he has done a lot to help make it a success, including printing out the brochures.

It would be nice to have a business card style layout that just has the osgeo.org url and a brief description.

That's all most people want...

Getting a fair amount of traffic at the booth, and some interest from the press. I'll keep you in the loop if anything serious happens.

I'll post some pictures to the wiki next week or so.
Cheers,
Percy

All done!

Brian did a great job covering the booth a lot and answering questions knowledgeably and cheerfully.

We both talked to press folks who were interested in the geospatial stuff. I updated the wiki today.

There is renewed interest in a local OSGEO chapter, I think I have a host for it, Opensourcery, which I think will be a more fun/casual place to host than the meetings we used to have at PSU (2005?). I'll be talking to Brian Jamison more about it in the next few weeks...

Let me know where to send the banner and table skirt!
Cheers,
Percy
