[Marketing] Trademark Policy

Folks,
we explicitly exclude the name "OSGeo Foundation" from our trademarks
guidelines [1].

"OSGeo's trademarks should be used in their exact form, including
capitalization -- neither abbreviated nor combined with any other word
or words (e.g. "OSGeo" rather than "osgeo" or "OS GEO", "Open Source
Geospatial Foundation" rather than "OSGeo Foundation", etc)."

I suggest to simply remove "Open Source Geospatial Foundation" rather
than "OSGeo Foundation".

"OSGeo Foundation" is already broadly used to differentiate from Local
Chapters, it seems to make sense and so it is silly to forbid it here.

On the same isse I suggest to add "OSGeo Foundation" to our list of
trademarks (same page right above):

The OSGeo trademarks include:
* the name The Open Source Geospatial Foundation
* the name OSGeo
* the name OSGeo.org
* the name OSGeo Foundation
* the OSGeo compass logo

We sh/could also add "FOSS4G", which is another (and probably most
revenue-related) trademark that we have. Adding this trademark to our
list does not affect / prevent other existing communities to use it
(foremost the Japanese LCs come to my mind) but it is one of our
trademarks so we might as well reference it.

If there are any issues with this please let these lists know before
this Thursday Boad Meeting.

Thanks,
Arnulf.

I think I was probably the one to originally write that text -- at the time, as I recall, I/we just wanted to be clear what our name was and was not. If "OSGeo Foundation" is actually being used, and we don't feel it dilutes in any way from the main two names [which I don't think it does, for myself], then by all means we should change the page.

I tend to regularly use "OSGeo Foundation" (oops).

+1 to amend the text.
