Just quickly forwarding an email I sent to Daniele as I was catching up on meeting minuets. Daniele had some questions for me in response to this email that I thought would be better explored on the public email list here 
The questions he asked were
* more details on points 3 and 5
* and asking me what I was on about with respect to "the relationship between the osgeo website and those of member projects"
I will let everyone think over the weekend and get back to this next week
