It seems like the last build of GRASS 8.5 for Mac was in 2025-05-08. Would a new build be possible? Thanks, Brendan
Hi Brendan,
Due to complications Apple imposes for signing software, Nicklas Larsson has been building binaries for me to post. I’m copying him here @nila to see about getting a new build.
Michael
Brendan, as soon as Michael can upload the newly built apps, they will be available at the usual place.
(Now it is fairly easy to build the 8.5.0dev (from main) for yourself, given you have Xcode and/or CommandLineTools installed, just run ./macos/build_grass_app.bash from the repo.)

Thanks Michael. Thanks Nicklas.
I’ll also try building it. That will be helpful in the future.

Would it be reasonable to request another build of GRASS 8.5 Mac again soon?
I tried compiling it, but got an error about not being able to locate OpenGL. Any advice?
I’m on an Apple M1 Pro with MacOS Sequoia 15.6.1 with XCode Command Line Tools installed.
configure: error: *** Unable to locate OpenGL library.
include/Make/Vars.make:1: include/Make/Platform.make: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `include/Make/Platform.make’. Stop.
Thanks, Brendan

As soon as I find the time, I’ll prepare one.

Please file an issue, where you can append (as *.txt file) the “config.log”.
I expected to see OpenGL issues with macOS 26 [1], but not 15 (which runs fine on CI).

Brendan, I just tested on a fresh install of a 15.7.2 VM. The build worked just fine.
Let me know if you want me to try building locally too. I have OS 26 installed.
Thanks, just took a deep breath and updated from 14 to 26!
Building on 15 with 26’s SDK could cause the same issue. The following fix should solve the issue:
Nicklas
Thanks, the fix solved the issue for me. Just compiled successfully.
