[OSGeo] #3161: Questions about Community News Pages

#3161: Questions about Community News Pages

3 questions:

1. From what I can tell, Community - OSGeo
news/torchgeo-0-5-2-release/ has been published, but it isn't linked to
TorchGeo - OSGeo. How do I make this happen?
2. The formatting of Community - OSGeo
news/torchgeo-0-5-2-release/ makes it illegible, can this be fixed?
3. TorchGeo 0.5.2 Release - OSGeo took a few
weeks before the page was approved. Do I need to notify anyone to review
and publish, or do I just have to wait for a volunteer?

Thanks for your help!

Comment:

Usually community news are gathered automatically from the OSGeo Planet(1)
but in this case that page was created by @darkblue and instead of linking
to the original source, the website renders the actual content, doing a
very poor job indeed.

I would suggest to add Torchgeo releases feed(2) to the planet directly
and avoid manual creation of community pages. More details on how to add
an entry to the planet here(3).

(2): Release notes from torchgeo

Comment (by Adam Stewart):

Thanks for the clarification! I'll reach out to OSGeo Planet and see if we
can automatically generate all News updates from our release notes.
TorchGeo 0.5.2 Release - OSGeo can probably
be deleted. Regarding question 1, will publishing on OSGeo Planet
automatically add links to the TorchGeo project page? I'm trying to
reproduce the behavior of "GDAL/OGR News" on
GDAL/OGR - OSGeo.

Comment:

Did not deleted the post.
To make the text visible:

{{{

...

}}}

Also added the `class="btn read-more"` to the link

Those links on "GDAL/OGR News" on GDAL/OGR - OSGeo.
Come from the "Foundation News" not from the community News.
But, from my point of view, it would be interesting to have them (topic
for discussion, not part of this ticket).

Its readable now.
