Bonn, 14th May 2008. The deegree project is about to celebrate its
7th birthday. deegree is an internationally successful Open Source
Framework (“construction set“) for building geoportals and Spatial
Data Infrastructures. deegree components are used inter alia:
as Reference Implementation for the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC),
in diverse national and international SDI projects,
as internal enterprise solution for efficient exchange of geodata,
in international research and development projects.
After 7 years of continuous development, the deegree project today
comprises the most comprehensive implementation of international
standards (OGC/ISO) in Free Software. On 17th June 2008 the third
deegree day takes place as a meeting of developers and users in the
Universitätsclub Bonn to support and push forward the community-driven
development process. deegree day offers a platform for exchange of
experiences and for discussion. Developers describe current and
future features of deegree. Users present current project results.
It is possible to discuss important, pending questions regarding
deegree technology and to become informed about the project organisation.

Two intensive workshops (18th June, each half-day) are offered in the
course of the event. The discussed topics can be voted on on-line.
