[OSGeo-Announce] FOSS4G Europe 2015: Ready!

We are proud to announce the second edition of the FOSS4G (Free and
Open Source Software For Geospatial) Europe Conference.

The conference will bring together some of the most fervent
developers, users and promoters of FOSS4G from Europe and beyond; it
will also foster closer interactions with and amongst European
communities in order to share ideas for improving geodata, software
and applications, openness, and availability. This international event
will be held in Italy at Politecnico di Milano, Como Campus
(http://www.polo-como.polimi.it/en/), from July 14 through 17, 2015.

Organizers of the FOSS4G Europe 2015 include the Politecnico di
Milano, the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo), the
International Cartographic Association (ICA), and the International
Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS).

One day of workshops precedes the conference (14 July 2015) and the
code sprint closes the event (18 July 2015). Besides the traditional
Academic Track (one day track), four special tracks on FOSS4G for
water resources (one day track), Open Geodata (half day track), FOSS4G
for Libraries (half day track) and Indoor/Outdoor Positioning (one day
track) will be organized. A meeting of the labs involved in the
GeoForAll (http://www.geoforall.org/) initiative will take place. A
mapping party for celebrating the International Map Year
(http://internationalmapyear.org/) will be also organized.

Last but not least, the winners of the NASA World Wind Europe
Challenge 2015 (http://eurochallenge.como.polimi.it/) will present
their innovative apps to the public.

Organizers opened the Call for Papers and Workshops.
They are planning to put together 10 workshops.
As expected, these will be shaped as 4 hours hands on courses.

As referring to the tracks, topics of the general one are:

* Application development
* Interoperability and open standards
* FOSS4G implementations for INSPIRE
* Transition to FOSS4G
* Big data
* Case studies of FOSS4G implementations
* Benchmarks: Comparisons between packages
* FOSS4G in education
* Analysis, manipulation and visualization of geospatial data
* Sensors, remote sensing, laser-scanning, structure for motion

For the special tracks, please refer directly to their Call for Papers.
Be advised that the chance to actively participate at FOSS4G Europe
