OSGeo Presentation Template - Draft - Review and Comment by Tues 6/6

VisCom Team,

Attached is draft presentation template, in ppt and open office formats.
It uses a shade of green from logo, and the grey tone of the large
compass from the template for the flyers that Tyler is working on.

Please review and comment by Tuesday June 6.

Cheers,

Peter

I was just looking over the Wiki page for the San Rafael meeting.

Some

comments:

* Will there be a "pre-meeting" to formalize the agenda and such?

* I see that there are a few WebCom items lists, but no WebCom
attendees..?

* I'd like to see some discussion of the special-interest-group and
local-interest-group concepts, to understand how they fit into the
scheme of things, relative to our other "project" groups.

* Should we discuss when/if the next round of member & board

elections?

* It has been suggested (Dave and Chris) that we take some time to
harmonize slide templates for Where talks.

I suggest to upload the docs to the VisCom Documents & Files section or into SVN for further processing. You need to have Project Developer status (request mpg or me for that role).

I like the templates and I agree with Jason that we should also have light on dark background version. Here's a couple more suggestions:
1. Make available as OpenOffice.org 2.0 (Open Document Format) Impress template
2. I'd encourage the use of Bitstream's Vera fonts: http://www.gnome.org/fonts/

If I get a chance this weekend, I'll play around with a template of my own.

Cheers!

I think this looks good Peter - Michael's comments make sense to me too.

Have you also checked if there is a Where 2.0 speaker template available?
Last year I took their recommended opening slide and then did some colour
coordinating with it so the rest of my slides fit their conference colours.
Might be worth at least checking out.

I'm not a fan of having the high contrast white on black look and feel like in
the ads. My view is that the ads are more for impact than communication and
that white on black will be tough to look professional in a presentation
slide environment. It is also a printing nightmare and since we hope to have
this template re-used, we should keep that in mind.
